A. Human Resource Development

1. Who can get trained in CIH?

Ans: Farmers, unemployed youths, entrepreneurs, State horticulture officers, extension Functionaries and FPOs/FPCs.

2. Process for applying to Farmers training conducted by CIH?

Ans: Proposal is required to be given to the Director, CIH stating the requirement for training as well as the area of need for the training by the farmer groups/FPOs/State Government as per procedures.

3. Is there any cost involved for participating in training?

Ans: Training expenses are borne by the Institute as per the MIDH guidelines as applicable and as per the approved Action Plan of the Institute..

4. On what topics are trainings conducted?

Ans: The Institute conducts trainings on all aspects related to horticulture crops. Trainings are conducted as per the requirement of the farming community at State, District or village level as per the approved Action Plan of the Institute.

B. Quality Planting Material

1. What is a quality planting material?

Ans: Heathy and disease free planting material propagated through vegetative means or through tissue culture is known as quality planting material.

2. What are the different types of methods used for producing quality planting material?

Ans: Different methods for production of quality planting materials are through cuttings, budding, crafting, layering and tissue culture

3. Is quality planting material of various fruit crops available?

Ans: Yes, it is available in the Institute on payment basis and availability.

4. How to purchase the quality planting material of various fruit crops?

Ans: Planting materials can be purchased from the Institute on payment basis based on availability of plants.

C. Skill development and three months Certificate course

1. Who can apply for the Skill development and three months Certificate course?

Ans: The eligibility for skill development courses is preferably 5th standard pass Candidates as per ASCI guideline. The eligibility for three months certificate course is Class X pass and above.

2. Are there any charges for attending the Skill development and three months Certificate course?

Ans: There is no charges for attending the Skill development and three months Certificate course. Free fooding and lodging facilities are provided by the Institute. However, candidates have to bear the travelling cost.

3. Is the training residential? How many students are taken per batch?

Ans: The courses are purely residential courses.The size of batch varies between 15 to 20 only

4. Is there job placement after undergoing these trainings?

Ans: These are just training courses and therefore there is no job guarantee given by the Institute. Only Certificates are given to successful trainees after completion of training.

5. What is the age limit for applying in these courses?

Ans: Minimum age limit is 17 years for applying for Skill development course and age limit for applying in three months certificate course is not below 20 years and not above 35 years of age.

6. Under what topics are the skill development and three months certificate course trainings provided?

Ans: Skill development on Floriculture-Protected cultivation will focus on skilling the trainees on growing of flowers under polyhouse/greenhouses, pre-cultivation practices, management of flower crops, harvesting and maintenance of quality in the polyhouses. Skill development on Gardener will focus on skilling the trainees on maintenance of a garden starting from soil and nutrient management of plants, pest & disease and their control, grafting, pruning, weeding and harvesting of flowers, fruits & vegetables etc.For three months certificate course, the topic is on post-harvest management of horticultural crops with special reference to processing &value addition.

D. Nursery Accreditation

1. What are the minimum requirements for applying for Nursery Accreditation?

Ans: The nurseries after receiving application are verified and they are accredited as per Nursery Accreditation Guideline

2. How much is the cost for Nursery Accreditation?

Ans: Rs.5000/- for first time nursery accreditation and Rs.3000/- for renewal of nursery

3. For how many years is the Nursery Accreditation certificate valid?

Ans: Nursery Accreditation certificate is valid for 02 years from the date of issue of the certificate.
