Banana and Pineapple Fibre Extraction

A one day farmers training on ‘Improved production technologies of Banana & citrus’ was jointly organized by Central Institute of Horticulture (CIH), DAC, GoI, Medziphema and ATMA, Wokha at CIH, Medziphema on 21st May 2014 with the aim to impart the farmers on the various scientific and improved method of cultivation.

Resource person Mr. A k Singh, Technical consultant, CIH, Medziphema imparted training on various aspects of improved production technologies of banana and citrus. Where he emphasized on the pit size, spacing, manures and fertilizers, intercropping, training and pruning and pest and diseases management. . Practical hands on demonstration on application of fertilizers, budding, grafting, were conducted at CIH farm and nursery unit. Visit to SASRD: NU farm, ICAR, Jharnapani and NRC on Mithun was also done.

ATMA, Wokha also requested the Director, CIH to conduct similar training programme in collaboration with them in the near future, such as crop specific trainings. Altogether, 9 participants including farmers of Wokha and ATMA officials attended the training programme. The programme was coordinated by Ms. Sentiyangla, Training i/c CIH, Medziphema and the team was led by Mr. T Subenthung Yanthan and Mr.Yanglen Jami, DPD ATMA Wokha.
