Marketing & Value Chain Development

Assam Lingzey, East Sikkim

A three days training programme on Marketing & Value Chain Development of Horticulture Crops was jointly organized by Central Institute of Horticulture, Nagaland & Department of Horticulture, Govt. of Sikkim at SICUN, Assam Lingzey, East Sikkim w.e.f. 26-28 September 2019. The programme was sponsored by National Institute of Agricultural Marketing, Jaipur.

The inaugural programme was graced by Shri. N K Gurung, Principal Director, Horticulture Department, Govt. of Sikkim as Chief Guest. In his address, emphasized the need to further strengthen the marketing system to benefit the farming community. He also encouraged the participants to contribute towards the betterment of the farmers.

Dr. N K Patle, Dy. Commissioner (Hor.), DAC&FW & Director i/c CIH, Nagaland graced the inaugural programme as Special Guest. During his address, he highlighted the programmes and activities of the institute and stressed the importance of understanding the concepts and business formats of marketing and value chain to create proper linkage.

Welcome address was delivered by Shri. Tilak Gajmer, Addl. Director (INM), Horticulture Department, Govt. of Sikkim and brief remark was given by Shri. Jagdish Pradhan, Addl. Director (PMKSY/Marketing/EAP), Horticulture Department, Govt. of Sikkim.

The three days training programme had resource persons from various organizations like spices board, CAEPHT, CAU, prominent entrepreneurs and businessman, private companies, horticulture dept. & CIH, Nagaland. A field visit was organized for the participants on 27th September 2019 at Kameray model horticulture farm, East Sikkim.

The valedictory programme was held on 28th September 2019 where certificates were distributed to the participants of the training programme.

Altogether, 23 state govt. officials and CEOs of 05 FPOs participated in the 03 days training programme. The programme was coordinated by Shri. Prabin Das Marketing Specialist, CIH.
